You probably all know what barbed wire is – it’s that knotted wire you see used in fencing around paddocks and factories where the ends stick out and that snag and catch you if you try to sneak past. Horrid stuff really, but effective, which is why there’s so much of it about.

So what’s Barbwired? Equally effective at snagging you but much more fun, it’s the blog of a fellow author, Barbara Hannay, who writes the most wonderfully heartwarming romances for the Harlequin Mills & Boon Romance line, stories rich with emotional intensity whether set in the city or in the outback she loves and brings to life as few others can.  Barbara lives in far north Queensland and divides her time between cosmopolitan Townsville and the beautiful Atherton Tablelands. So do check it out, if only for the views.

At the moment Barb is talking about writers and actors and getting into someone’s head. Barbara’s current heroine is a vet and she’s collecting vet stories. Turns out, my mum has one – my mother cares for native animals and birds, and a baby galah with a broken wing is right up her alley – check out Barbwired for a picture of this little fellow – he’s a real character – I’m sure he’s smiling!

And here’s a picture of another little creature my dad rescued from his wood pile the same day. Not quite a native, but just gorgeous.

Who, me?

Who, me?

He’s incredibly hard to get a clear picture of because he won’t stay still for a second, but he’s absolutely adorable and needless to say, the girls just love him. And I suspect we may have a new house cat soon…

PS: While we were visiting the kitten and galah today, the girls spotted a koala munching happily away on leaves in the swaying branches. It really is a menagerie at their place!

Okay, you big softie, what’s the kitty going to be called? Or can we have a blog comp to name him 🙂

I’d love to hear any suggestions! What do you think, Yvonne?

Hmmm, thinking about your spoodle, (Cappu)Chino, and drinks…what about Martini? or Rusty (Nail)? Or Freddie (Fuddpucker)? Napolean?

Or, given his caption above, Whoome? 😉

Okay, I’ll give it some *serious* thought and get back to you…

Or Baz (in light of his latest epic, Austalia 😉 )

Fuddpucker??? LOL Yvonne, you clearly have a knack for naming animals.

My mum wants to call it Lucky. I don’t know if that grabs me. Baz I like!

In my defense that is the name of a cocktail… But yeah, he kind of looks like a Baz. You could call him Baz Lickman instead of Luhrmann, LOL!

Or Baz Luckman? (to satisfy your mum)
