A Modern Miracle

I don’t know how anyone in the world could have remained untouched by what was happening in Chile this week. After 69 unimaginable days, 33 miners were rescued from where they were trapped  700 metres below ground. There certainly wasn’t a dry eye around here.

Congratulations Chile and all the countries involved in the rescue efforts. Brava to those brave men who descended into that hole in the ground and waited until all the miners had been taken to the surface before they too, were able to be lifted to safety. These men are all true heroes.

And in case you didn’t see the footage of that amazing first ascent, here’s Florencio Avalos emerging from Fenix and greeting his wife and son. Precious, precious moments.

It’s no secret I love happy endings. This one has been one of the best.
